Young Professionals of the Alberni Valley
The Young Professionals of the Alberni Valley are an energetic group committed to cultivating a culture for local professionals here in the Alberni Valley, BC Canada. We’re working to nurture a dynamic, vibrant culture and community that attracts and retains young professionals— with a variety of local events, activities and initiatives..
Upon being exposed to the positive contributions other Young Professional organizations have had in their respective communities a group of dedicated individuals have decided to start up an Alberni Valley chapter.
You won't understand the unabashed power of community until you are a part of one.
As leaders in our community, we value community involvement and continue to take on ambitious community projects. Our projects are connected locally within our community, economy, environment and in support of our youth.
Young Professionals (YP) groups have 4 main pillars as their mission:
1. Professional Development
The YP groups continue to create multiple opportunities for our members to develop and broaden their skills. PD events vary from bringing in local business leaders to having members present on their areas of expertise.
2. Community Involvement
The YP groups believe in making our community a better place to live, work, and play. As leaders in our community, we value community involvement and continue to take on ambitious community projects. Our projects are connected locally within our community, economy, environment and in support of our youth.
3. Business Networking
We constantly encourage our members to get to know each other in a more meaningful way through our signature events. These will include “Meet & Greets”, networking nights, corporate functions and social gatherings. YP groups have been very successful at creating an environment for business referrals and many of our members have developed strong business connections within the group. Our members work hard at creating long lasting relationships based on trust and mutual respect.
4. Social Networking
Our social events are designed to provide a more casual atmosphere for members to get to know each other on a personal level. We also have group functions designed to provide a more casual atmosphere for members to get to know each other on a personal level.
If you live near one of our garden, get involved to receive portions of each harvest. We accept volunteers regardless of skill level. There is a rotation in roles, but we’ll teach you all the skills you need to know. Teenagers 14 years and older can earn community service credits for school in addition to getting produce for their families. Donations are also vital to our growth, as we use them for seed, fertilizer, tools, and outreach.
